There's no place like home!
When Thorneycroft Solicitors open the doors to their new weekly legal advice clinic, above the offices of Jon Mellor Estate Agents, it will be the realisation of a long term objective for Buxton resident Rachel Stow who is Managing Director of the Macclesfield based firm of solicitors.
Rachel has lived in Buxton since 1995 but can trace her links to the town back to her teenage years when she, along with now husband Mark, visited the area for walking and camping holidays.
Having completed her legal training in Lincoln, Rachel was offered the opportunity of joining Thorneycroft in Macclesfield. That is when her and Mark set about looking for somewhere to set-up home. Rachel takes up the story, “The easy option would have been to buy a property in or around Macclesfield but we had fantastic memories of both Buxton and the surrounding countryside. We never had any doubts that it was here where we wanted to be”. As a family Rachel, Mark and their two boys are involved in may local activities including Buxton Junior football clubs, Buxton cubs and scouts, as well as being regular supporters of the Opera House. Mark, who originally had a job in the quarries, now has his own business with many local clients.
So why was has Rachel decided to launch the new weekly clinic in Buxton? “I could say that it is simply to enable me to spend more time in the town that I love but there is actually a lot more to it” explains Rachel. She goes on to add “At Thorneycroft we have established ourselves as one of the region’s leading law firms, providing clients with a service that is based on professionalism, integrity and a personal approach. Our recently expanded private client department provides clients with advice relating to divorce, family matters, wills, probate, lasting powers of attorney and conveyancing, as well as personal injury claims. The new legal clinics will take place every Tuesday between 9 am and 12 noon commencing on 4th November and will give local people the opportunity to get initial advice without incurring high charges.
